I've been through several "eras of change" at work. I witnessed the shift from mainframes to client server applications. I watched as email became the core communication tool for business, and saw it challenged by instant messaging, blogs, wikis and now social networks as each was heralded as "the new way to work." I've seen people change from hoarding information as power to openly sharing in order to help their colleagues. But during my two decades in technology, I've never experienced so many profound changes occurring all at the same time as what we're part of right now.

It's undeniable that work is very different today than it was just two or three years ago. We're interacting with larger audiences via social networks both inside and outside our companies. We're more open about core business processes like trying to sign a new customer, hiring and on-boarding employees and rewarding our peers. We're connected all the time via smart phone, tablets and even our cars. Work has changed.

The Future Of Work

At Constellation Research, our analysts help people understand these changes, prepare for them and execute on plans that can help their organizations succeed. Next month, we're joining Saba at their People 2012 global summit in Miami, Florida to present a complimentary 1-day workshop titled, "From Concept to Reality: The Future Of Work."
